Creative expression has always been a big part of my life. For as long as I can remember, I have been drawing, writing and building things.
A proud GenXer, I grew up with technology, coding first with punch cards, then on mainframes, then on PCs. The expansion of the computer’s capabilities allowed our generation to expand the possibilities for communication and creativity.
Brown University offered me the opportunity to learn about Engineering inside the classroom, and entrepreneurship outside. I began designing and selling T-shirts and other items, selling them at events up and down the East Coast.
When I got my degree, I began working for a corporation where I improved my technical writing skills and learned about process management. Eventually, full-time entrepreneurship became my calling. I’ve done everything from hand-print T-shirts to design digital billboards.
Perseverance in the face of adversity is the key to business success. Having lived the life of a young business owners, I am compelled to assist other first-generation entrepreneurs in developing the strategy, design and systems to realize their vision. Experience has taught me to listen and observe in order to gain understanding and take action.
I love bringing together creativity, technology and process to solve problems for individuals and communities.
I love bringing out the best in diverse teams of people, bridging divides of age, culture, class and ethnicity to achieve common understanding and common goals.
I love achieving results that can be measured in terms of revenue, donations, visitors, or smiles on people’s faces!
I love helping young leaders (and those young at heart) to improve their lives and communities through mentoring and skills development.
